Blue Bottle Venice Beach

This tiny, 600 sf cafe extracts the best of the Blue Bottle Coffee experience. The space is transparent and open in line with the company’s ethos. As a nod to Blue Bottle’s acclaimed coffee roasting techniques, raw finishes are refined just enough to craft a direct, visceral aesthetic. At the entry, oversized glass sliders framed in structural steel connect the interior to the sidewalk. A robust, cantilevering maple counter greets customers with drinks and locally baked goods. Behind the sales counter, two quartz-clad service stations support the espresso machine, drip bar and other coffee equipment. Clean white surfaces wrap the service wall to the ceiling above, stopping just short of the opposite wall’s original brickwork. Natural and artificial light slots in the ceiling wash the space from above. The space’s most striking element is a dynamic LED backdrop that subtly changes color and brightness in response to the time of day, passing of season, or other programmed input. Shown in the photos is a graphic interpretation of the cloudless Venice sky.
