CDS St. Joseph’s Hall

In keeping with Children’s Day School’s strong environmental mission, the renovations to this existing historic structure incorporate various sustainable features and recycled materials. Most prominently, a solar glass wall and canopy have been added to the school’s main south facing wall. The existing exterior wall and windows are covered by a double-skin photovoltaic glass façade. This skin will generate power, provide heat and light control for the classrooms and function as a thermal ventilation chimney. The solar glass extends as a canopy out over a new raised front porch with stadium stairs descending down to the school play yard.
