Mountain Hut

An extremely lightweight metal and glass structure was proposed for this remote wilderness lodge. The entire roof canopy consists of solar glass—photovoltaic panels embedded in clear glass—that generates power while allowing light to filter into the interior. Operable polycarbonate walls contribute to the experience of the building being like that of a large open camping tent. A walk-through outdoor fireplace set into the thickness of a wood storage wall serves as the focal point for the community of guests.
